The Nervous System and Chronic Pain

Chronic pain can trigger a state of hypervigilance in the nervous system, leading to increased anxiety and stress responses. This can create a cycle where pain exacerbates stress, which in turn amplifies pain perception. Essential oils can play a role in breaking this cycle by promoting relaxation and reducing stress levels.

Through the stages and researching my condition I found that more and more health care professionals and patients have become interested in non-pharmacological methods, among them aromatherapy, by calming the nervous system, to reduce pain and anxiety, since this method uses simple management techniques, at low cost, and without the same side effects as pharmaceutical pain meds.
